Dr. M. Ray McKinnie is the Dean/1890 Extension Administrator for the College of Agriculture at Virginia State University; having begun his tenure in December 2016. McKinnie received his B. S. degree in Animal Science from North Carolina A&T State University (1976) and the Master’s and Ph.D. degree, in Animal Science/Reproductive Physiology, from The Ohio State University (1978) and North Carolina State University (1987). As an Extension specialist and researcher, a vast percentage of his time was devoted developing technologies and resource information for farmers with limited resources in North Carolina and the Southeast. As an administrator, he has been committed to building strong solid organizations focused on hiring productive people, developing high quality/top tier educational programs/products and the utilization of cutting-edge technology in the design and delivery of them. He was Chair of ECOP and Administrative Heads Section (AHS) in FY2010 and 2019, respectively, and is a graduate of both the Food Systems Leadership Institute Program (Class III) and the National Extension Leadership Development Program (NELD-Class V).
